Ingredients

2 cups fresh or frozen sweet peas

1 cup whole milk

1 tablespoon unsalted butter

1 tablespoon honey (or maple syrup for a vegan option)

1/4 teaspoon sea salt

Fresh mint leaves, for garnish (optional)

A pinch of black pepper (optional)

Instructions

Prep the Peas: If using fresh peas, shell them and set them aside. If using frozen peas, let them thaw slightly but they can be cooked directly from frozen.

Warm the Milk: In a medium saucepan, gently heat the whole milk over low heat. Be careful not to boil it; you just want it warmed through.

Cook the Peas: In a separate pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sweet peas (fresh or frozen) and sauté them for about 3-4 minutes, until they are bright green and tender.

Combine Ingredients: Pour the warm milk into the pan with the peas. Add the honey (or maple syrup) and sea salt. Stir gently to combine the ingredients, allowing them to simmer together for another 2-3 minutes to meld the flavors.

Adjust Seasoning: Taste the mixture and adjust seasoning if needed. If desired, you can add a pinch of black pepper for a slight kick.

Serve: Ladle the sweet peas in warm milk into bowls, garnishing with fresh mint leaves if using. Serve warm as a delicious side dish or a comforting snack.
