1 tablespoon olive oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

1 (14 oz) can crushed tomatoes

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 teaspoon sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped

Cook the Pasta: Begin by bringing a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the penne pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually around 10-12 minutes. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta and set aside.
