Ingredients

1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)

1 cup marinara sauce

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1 ½ cups sliced pepperoni

½ cup sliced black olives (optional)

½ cup diced green bell peppers

½ cup sliced mushrooms

¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 egg (for egg wash)

Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Roll Out Dough: On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle, about 14x10 inches. Make sure to keep the dough evenly thick.

Spread the Sauce: Using a spatula, evenly spread the marinara sauce over the dough, leaving about a 1-inch border around the edges.

Layer the Ingredients: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce, and then layer the sliced pepperoni, black olives, diced green bell peppers, and sliced mushrooms on top of the cheese.

Season it Up: Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning evenly across the filling.

Roll it Up: Starting from one of the long sides, carefully roll the dough over the filling, making sure to keep it tight. Pinch the ends to seal and tuck them under to prevent any filling from leaking out.

Prepare for Baking: Place the Stromboli seam-side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush the top with olive oil and beat the egg in a small bowl, then brush it over the rolled dough for a beautiful golden finish.

Make Slits: With a sharp knife, make a few diagonal slits on the top of the Stromboli to allow steam to escape.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the Stromboli is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.

Cool and Slice: Once baked, remove from the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes. Slice the Stromboli into thick pieces for serving.

Garnish and Serve: Optional – garnish with fresh basil leaves. Serve warm with additional marinara sauce for dipping if desired.
