Ingredients

1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes

4 oz cream cheese, softened

1 medium onion, finely chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp Italian seasoning

1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

2 tbsp olive oil

1 tbsp balsamic vinegar

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Grated Parmesan cheese (for serving)

Cooked pasta of your choice (spaghetti or penne work great)

Instructions

Sauté the Aromatics: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for about 5 minutes until translucent. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Add the Tomatoes: Pour in the crushed tomatoes and stir well. Add the Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes (if using), balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper. Bring the sauce to a simmer.

Creamy Texture: Lower the heat and add the softened cream cheese. Stir until the cream cheese has completely melted and the sauce is smooth and creamy. If the sauce is too thick, you can thin it out with a splash of pasta water.

Adjust Seasoning: Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning if needed, adding more salt, pepper, or Italian seasoning to your preference.

Combine with Pasta: Add your cooked pasta directly into the sauce, tossing to coat it evenly. Allow it to cook together for an additional 2-3 minutes over low heat to soak in the flavors.

Serve: Plate the pasta and garnish with fresh basil leaves and a generous sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese. Serve hot and enjoy!
