8 oz cream cheese, softened

½ cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

½ teaspoon lemon zest

1 package wonton wrappers (typically about 50 sheets)

Vegetable oil for frying

Additional powdered sugar for dusting

Fresh berries (optional, for garnish)

Instructions
 

In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and lemon zest. Mix until smooth and creamy to form the filling.

    Place a wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the cream cheese filling into the center of the wrapper.

      Dip your finger in water and moisten the edges of the wrapper. Fold the wrapper in half to form a triangle, sealing the edges by pressing them together firmly. Ensure there are no air pockets.

        Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep pan or fryer over medium-high heat.

          Once the oil reaches about 350°F (175°C), carefully add the wontons in batches, frying them for 2-3 minutes each or until they are golden brown and crispy.

            Use a slotted spoon to remove the wontons from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

              While they’re still warm, dust the wontons with additional powdered sugar.

                If desired, serve with fresh berries or a drizzle of berry sauce for an extra touch.
