Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 cup milk, warmed

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 large egg

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 cup cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup powdered sugar

1/2 cup fresh strawberries, chopped

1 tsp lemon juice

1/4 tsp cinnamon (optional)

1 cup powdered sugar (for icing)

2-3 tbsp milk (for icing)

Instructions

Prepare the Dough:

    - In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

      - Add melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract to the yeast mixture. Mix well.

        - Gradually add flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.

          - Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.

            First Rise:

              - Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

                Prepare the Filling:

                  - In a separate bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, chopped strawberries, lemon juice, and cinnamon (if using) until smooth.

                    Roll Out the Dough:

                      - Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle (about 12x18 inches) on a floured surface.

                        Assemble the Rolls:

                          - Spread the cream cheese filling evenly across the rolled-out dough.

                            - Starting from one long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Pinch the seam to seal.

                              Cut the Rolls:

                                - Slice the rolled dough into 12 equal pieces. Place them cut-side up in a greased baking dish.

                                  Second Rise:

                                    - Cover the dish with a cloth and let the rolls rise in a warm environment for another 30 minutes.

                                      Preheat Oven:

                                        - While the rolls are rising, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

                                          Bake the Rolls:

                                            - Bake the sweet rolls for about 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.

                                              Make the Icing:

                                                - In a small bowl, mix powdered sugar with enough milk to reach a drizzling consistency.

                                                  Finish:

                                                    - Once the rolls are done, let them cool slightly, then drizzle the icing generously over the top.

                                                      Serve:

                                                        - Enjoy warm as a delicious breakfast or dessert option!
