Ingredients

2 lbs pork shoulder, trimmed and cut into chunks

1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)

1 onion, sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup chicken broth

1 tablespoon brown sugar

2 teaspoons smoked paprika

1 teaspoon cumin

Salt and pepper to taste

12 slider buns

Coleslaw (for topping)

Pickles (for topping)

Fresh cilantro (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

Prep the Pork: Season the pork shoulder chunks with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and cumin. Make sure each piece is well coated.

Sear the Meat: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add a splash of oil. Once hot, add the seasoned pork chunks in batches and sear until browned on all sides. Transfer the browned pork to a slow cooker.

Build the Flavor: In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and garlic. Sauté for about 2-3 minutes until the onions are translucent. Stir in the brown sugar, cooking for an additional minute. Then, pour in the chicken broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.

Mix in the BBQ Sauce: Add the BBQ sauce to the skillet, mixing well. Bring it to a simmer for 2-3 minutes, then pour the mixture over the seared pork in the slow cooker.

Cook: Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours until the pork is tender and easily shredded.

Shred the Pork: Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded pork back into the crockpot, mixing it with the sauce.

Assemble the Sliders: Lightly toast the slider buns. On the bottom half of each bun, place a generous scoop of the BBQ pork, followed by a spoonful of coleslaw and top with pickles.

Garnish and Serve: Optional: add fresh cilantro on top for an extra burst of flavor. Place the bun tops on each slider and serve warm. Enjoy your Sticky BBQ Pork Sliders!
