Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

2 cups granulated sugar

4 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

½ teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup buttermilk

1 cup finely chopped pecans

Zest of 1 orange (optional for a twist)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 10-inch bundt pan with butter and a dusting of flour to prevent sticking.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, mix in the vanilla extract until combined.

In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the buttermilk, starting and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

Gently fold in the chopped pecans and orange zest if using, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.

Bake in the preheated oven for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for 15 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
