Ingredients

1 lb ground lamb (or beef for variation)

1 medium onion, diced

2 carrots, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup frozen peas

2 tablespoons tomato paste

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon dried thyme

½ teaspoon smoked paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

4 cups mashed potatoes (prepared with butter and milk)

1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground lamb (or beef) and cook until browned. Drain any excess fat.

Add the diced onion and carrots to the skillet, cooking for about 5-7 minutes until softened.

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.

Add the tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well to ensure the meat is coated.

Fold in the frozen peas and let the mixture simmer for an additional 3-4 minutes.

Transfer the meat and vegetable mixture into a baking dish, spreading it evenly.

Evenly layer the mashed potatoes over the meat mixture, smoothing it out with a spatula. Use a fork to create a textured surface on top.

Sprinkle the grated cheddar cheese on top of the mashed potatoes for an extra cheesy topping.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until the cheese is golden and the edges are bubbling.

Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

                        Prep Time: 20 mins | Total Time: 55 mins | Servings: 4-6
