Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

½ cup granulated sugar

½ teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon baking powder

¼ teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon cocoa powder

1 large egg

½ cup buttermilk

¼ cup vegetable oil

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 tablespoons red food coloring

½ cup cream cheese, softened

1 cup powdered sugar

1 tablespoon milk

½ teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut pan with non-stick spray.

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder until well combined.

In a separate bowl, beat the egg, then stir in the buttermilk, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and red food coloring until smooth.

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry mixture, stirring gently until just combined. Do not overmix.

Carefully transfer the batter to a piping bag (or a resealable plastic bag with a corner snipped off). Pipe the batter into the donut pan, filling each cavity about ⅔ full.

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to make the cream cheese glaze. Beat until smooth and creamy.

Once the donuts are completely cool, dip the tops into the cream cheese glaze. Allow any excess glaze to drip off.

Let the glazed donuts sit for a few minutes for the glaze to set.
