Monkey bread is a dish that has captivated many with its unique presentation and delightful taste. Traditionally, it consists of pieces of dough that are rolled into balls, coated in sugar and cinnamon, and baked in a bundt pan. The result is a pull-apart bread that is both fluffy and tender, often served as a sweet breakfast or dessert. The “monkey” in monkey bread refers to the way diners pull apart pieces of the bread, reminiscent of how monkeys pick at food.

Ingredients

2 cans of refrigerated biscuit dough (16 oz each)

1 cup pepperoni slices

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1/2 cup pizza sauce (for dipping)

Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a bundt pan with non-stick spray or butter.

Open the biscuit dough and cut each biscuit into quarters. Place them into a bowl.

Add the pepperoni slices, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder into the bowl with the biscuit pieces. Gently toss until everything is evenly coated.

Pour the melted butter over the biscuit mixture and stir until well combined.

Carefully transfer the mixture into the greased bundt pan, pressing down gently to pack it in.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the dough is cooked through.

Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool for about 5 minutes. Carefully invert the bundt pan onto a serving platter.

Serve warm with pizza sauce for dipping and garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.
