Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey for a lighter option)

1 medium onion, diced

1 medium green bell pepper, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup beef broth

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thicker sauce)

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

4 hoagie rolls or hamburger buns

1 1/2 cups provolone cheese, shredded

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Cook the Meat: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula (about 5-7 minutes). Drain excess fat if necessary.

Sauté Vegetables: Add the diced onion and green bell pepper to the skillet with the cooked beef. Sauté for about 4-5 minutes until the vegetables are tender. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.

Make the Sauce: Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well to combine. If you prefer a thicker sauce, mix the cornstarch with a bit of water to create a slurry and add that to the skillet.

Season: Add salt, black pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes (if using). Allow the mixture to simmer for about 5-10 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

Add Cheese: Reduce the heat to low and stir in the shredded provolone cheese until melted and well combined.

Prepare the Rolls: While the cheese is melting, lightly toast your hoagie rolls or buns in the oven or on a skillet until golden brown.

Assemble Sloppy Joes: Once the cheese is melted, spoon the Philly cheesesteak mixture generously onto the toasted rolls.

Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle with fresh parsley for a pop of color and flavor. Serve hot with your favorite side!
