1 cup long-grain rice (such as Jasmine or Basmati)

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

2 cups vegetable or chicken broth

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

Salt and pepper to taste

Zest of 1 lemon (optional, for added freshness)

Instructions
 

Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch. This helps achieve fluffy rice.

    In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to brown it.

      Stir in the rinsed rice and toast it in the butter for another 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently to coat the grains with the garlic butter mixture.

        Add the broth to the saucepan, along with salt and pepper to taste. Bring the mixture to a boil.

          Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan with a lid, and let it simmer for about 15-18 minutes or until the rice is cooked and has absorbed all the liquid.

            Remove from heat and let the rice sit, covered, for an additional 5 minutes. Fluff the rice with a fork before serving.

              Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, and lemon zest (if using) until well combined. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
