Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast

3/4 cup whole milk, warmed (110°F)

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 large egg

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon salt

Vegetable oil, for frying

1/2 cup Nutella (room temperature)

Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.

In a large bowl, mix together flour, granulated sugar, and salt. Create a well in the center.

Add the frothy yeast mixture, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract into the well.

Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.

Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

After the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out to about 1/2 inch thickness on a floured surface. Use a donut cutter to cut out donuts.

Place the cut donuts on a floured baking sheet and cover them. Let them rest for another 30 minutes.

While resting, heat vegetable oil in a deep pan until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Once oil is hot, carefully fry the donuts in batches for about 1-2 minutes on each side or until golden brown.

Remove the donuts with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

While donuts are still warm, use a piping bag to fill each donut with Nutella through the side.

Dust the filled donuts with powdered sugar and serve immediately.
