Ingredients

6 slices of bread (white or challah works well)

8 large eggs

2 cups milk

1 cup shredded Swiss cheese

1 cup diced ham

1 cup cooked turkey or chicken, diced

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

Salt and black pepper to taste

½ cup powdered sugar (for serving)

Maple syrup (for serving)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until well combined.

Cut the slices of bread into quarters and place half of them in a single layer at the bottom of the greased baking dish.

Sprinkle half of the shredded Swiss cheese over the bread, then layer the diced ham and cooked turkey on top.

Add the remaining bread quarters in a second layer, followed by the rest of the Swiss cheese.

Pour the egg mixture evenly over the layers, ensuring all the bread is soaked. Press down gently with a spatula to make sure the bread absorbs the egg mixture.

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the casserole is puffed up and golden brown on top.

Allow it to cool for a few minutes before slicing into squares.

                    Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 1 hour | Servings: 6-8

                      - Presentation Tips: Serve warm, dusting with powdered sugar and offering maple syrup on the side for drizzling over each slice. Garnish with fresh herbs like parsley or chives for a pop of color.
