Ingredients

1 pound refrigerated cheese ravioli

2 cups marinara sauce

1 cup ricotta cheese

1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 large egg

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs (oregano, basil, thyme)

½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a little heat)

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.

In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, minced garlic, Italian herbs, salt, and pepper until smooth. This will be your cheese filling.

Spread 1 cup of marinara sauce evenly on the bottom of the greased baking dish.

Layer half of the cheese ravioli over the marinara sauce in the dish. Ensure they are evenly distributed.

Spoon half of the ricotta mixture over the ravioli, using a spatula to spread it gently.

Sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the ricotta layer.

Pour half of the remaining marinara sauce over the mozzarella layer.

Repeat the layers once more: ravioli, ricotta mixture, and marinara sauce. Finish with the remaining mozzarella and sprinkle the grated Parmesan on top.

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.

Let the casserole cool for about 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.
