Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

2 teaspoons matcha green tea powder

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup buttermilk (or plain yogurt)

3 tablespoons warm water

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

In a bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, matcha powder, and salt. Set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together using a hand mixer until light and fluffy.

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Alternately add the dry ingredients and buttermilk to the creamed mixture, starting and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.

In a separate bowl, mix the matcha powder with warm water until dissolved and smooth.

Divide the cake batter into two bowls: one for cocoa and one for matcha. In the bowl containing the cocoa batter, add 2 tablespoons of matcha liquid and mix well until combined. In the other bowl, add the remaining matcha and gently fold it in.

Now, spoon alternating dollops of cocoa and matcha batter into the prepared cake pan, creating a marbled effect. Use a toothpick or knife to swirl the batters gently for a beautiful marbled design.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

                      Prep Time: 20 minutes | Total Time: 50 minutes | Servings: 8-10

                        - Presentation Tips: Dust the cooled cake with powdered sugar and garnish with fresh mint leaves and slices of strawberries for an elegant touch. Serve with a cup of steaming matcha or coffee.
