Ingredients

1 lb (450g) ground beef

4 cups green cabbage, thinly sliced

1 medium onion, sliced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated

2 medium carrots, julienned

3 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

Salt and pepper to taste

Green onions, chopped for garnish

Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

In a large skillet or wok, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spatula, until browned (about 5-7 minutes). Drain excess fat if necessary.

Push the beef to one side of the pan and add sliced onions, minced garlic, and grated ginger to the other side. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until fragrant and the onions start to soften.

Add the julienned carrots and sliced cabbage to the skillet, stirring the vegetables into the meat. Cook for an additional 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently until the cabbage is tender and wilted.

Pour in the soy sauce, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir well to combine all ingredients, cooking for another 2 minutes to heat through.

Taste and season with salt and pepper as desired. Cook for a final minute to let flavors meld.

Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
