1 pound fresh asparagus, trimmed

3 tablespoons olive oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

Zest of 1 lemon

2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

Salt and pepper to taste

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Lemon wedges for garnish

Instructions
 

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

    In a large bowl, combine the trimmed asparagus, olive oil, minced garlic, lemon zest, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Toss well until the asparagus is evenly coated.

      Spread the asparagus in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

        Roast in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until the asparagus is tender but still crisp, tossing halfway through for even cooking.

          If desired, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the asparagus during the last 2 minutes of roasting.

            Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Serve with lemon wedges on the side for an extra zesty touch.
