Ingredients

2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)

½ cup warm milk (110°F)

¼ cup granulated sugar

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting

½ teaspoon salt

Vegetable oil, for frying

1 cup powdered sugar

2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

½ teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

In a small bowl, combine the warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, egg, and vanilla extract.

Add the frothy yeast mixture to the butter mixture and stir until combined.

Gradually add the flour and salt to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.

Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, incorporate a bit more flour as needed.

Place the dough into a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface to about ½ inch thick.

Use a doughnut cutter to cut out doughnuts and place them on a floured baking sheet. Re-roll the scraps to make more doughnuts if needed.

Cover the doughnuts with a towel again and let them rise for another 30 minutes.

In a large, deep skillet or pot, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry the doughnuts a few at a time, for about 1 minute on each side or until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

In a bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to make the glaze. If it's too thick, add a bit more milk until desired consistency is achieved.

While still warm, dip each doughnut into the glaze, allowing excess to drip off before placing it on a wire rack to set.

Prep Time: 30 mins | Total Time: 2 hrs | Servings: 12 doughnuts

                            - Presentation Tips: Arrange the glazed doughnuts on a decorative platter or tiered stand. Garnish with colorful sprinkles or fresh fruit slices for an eye-catching presentation!
