Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (preferably lean)

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 tablespoon sesame oil

2 garlic cloves, minced

1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated

2 green onions, sliced (white and green parts separated)

1 cup broccoli florets

1 cup cooked jasmine rice

1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean red chili paste, adjust to taste)

Sesame seeds, for garnish

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

In a large skillet, heat the sesame oil over medium heat.

Add the minced garlic, grated ginger, and white parts of the green onions. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef to the skillet. Break it apart with a spatula and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.

In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, brown sugar, and gochujang. Pour this mixture over the browned beef. Stir well to coat evenly and let it simmer for about 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

Add the broccoli florets to the skillet, mixing them in with the beef. Cover the skillet and steam the broccoli with the residual heat for about 3-4 minutes or until tender but still vibrant.

Season the mixture with salt and pepper to taste and remove from heat.

Serve the Korean ground beef and broccoli over a bed of jasmine rice, garnishing each bowl with the green parts of the sliced green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.
