Ingredients

500 g boneless chicken (cut into bite-sized pieces)

1 cup plain yogurt

1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste

2 teaspoons garam masala

1 teaspoon turmeric powder

1 teaspoon red chili powder

Salt to taste

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 medium onion (finely chopped)

1 can (400 g) crushed tomatoes

1 cup heavy cream

3 tablespoons butter

1 teaspoon cumin seeds

1-2 green chilies (slit lengthwise, optional)

Fresh cilantro leaves for garnish

1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

In a large bowl, combine the chicken pieces with yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, garam masala, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Marinate for at least 1 hour (preferably overnight in the refrigerator).

Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds.

Add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown (about 5-7 minutes).

Pour in the crushed tomatoes and cook for 10 minutes, allowing the mixture to thicken and flavors to meld.

Stir in the marinated chicken and cook for 10-12 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.

Reduce the heat to low and add the heavy cream and butter. Stir until well combined and simmer for another 5 minutes, allowing the sauce to become rich and creamy.

If using, add the slit green chilies and lemon juice for extra zing. Stir and taste; adjust seasoning as needed.

Garnish with fresh cilantro leaves before serving.
