Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast

1 tsp sugar

1 tsp salt

3/4 cup warm water (about 110°F)

2 tbsp olive oil

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp dried Italian herbs (or oregano)

1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt. Mix well. Create a well in the center and pour in the warm water and olive oil. Stir until a dough forms.

Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Form a ball and place it in a greased bowl. Cover with a clean towel and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Shape the Breadsticks: Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick. Cut the rectangle into strips, about 1 inch wide.

Add Cheese & Seasoning: Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, Italian herbs, and red pepper flakes (if using) evenly over the dough strips.

Twist & Bake: Carefully twist each strip a few times and lay them on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with melted butter for a golden finish.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown and cheese is bubbly.

Serve: Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh parsley if desired, and serve warm with marinara sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
