Ingredients

8 Hawaiian rolls

4 large eggs

1 cup whole milk

1 tbsp vanilla extract

1 tsp ground cinnamon

½ tsp nutmeg

2 tbsp brown sugar

Butter, for cooking

Maple syrup, for serving

Fresh fruit (sliced bananas or strawberries), for garnish

Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar until well combined.

Cut each Hawaiian roll in half horizontally, creating mini-buns.

Dip each roll half into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for about 30 seconds to absorb the liquid.

In a skillet or griddle, melt a tablespoon of butter over medium heat.

Place the soaked roll halves cut-side down on the hot skillet. Cook until golden brown and slightly crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side. Add more butter as needed for cooking additional batches.

Remove the cooked French toast from the skillet and keep warm while you finish the rest.

Serve warm, drizzled with maple syrup, and garnish with fresh fruit and a dusting of powdered sugar if desired.
