Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 medium onion, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

4 large russet potatoes, thinly sliced

2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded

1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup

1 cup milk

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Salt and pepper to taste

1 tsp paprika

1/2 tsp dried thyme

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Cook the Ground Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef along with the diced onion until the beef is browned and the onions are translucent, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.

Season the Meat: Add minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, thyme, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Stir and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the garlic is fragrant.

Prepare the Cream Sauce: In a bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup and milk. Whisk until smooth. Set aside.

Assemble the Casserole: In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes on the bottom. Top with half of the beef mixture, then sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, beef, and finish with the remaining soup mixture poured evenly over the top.

Bake the Casserole: Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and sprinkle remaining cheese on top. Bake uncovered for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
