Ingredients

500g (4 cups) strong white bread flour

2 tsp sea salt

1 tsp sugar

7g (2 ¼ tsp) instant yeast

325ml (1 ⅓ cups) warm water

2 tbsp olive oil

Cornmeal (for dusting)

Instructions

Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine the warm water and sugar. Sprinkle the instant yeast on top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the strong white bread flour and sea salt. Mix well.

Combine: Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in the yeast mixture along with the olive oil.

Knead the Dough: Use a wooden spoon to bring the mixture together until it forms a rough dough. Then transfer it to a floured surface and knead for about 10-15 minutes until smooth and elastic.

First Rise: Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.

Shape the Dough: Once risen, punch down the dough gently to deflate it. Divide it into 2 equal parts for large pizzas or 4 for smaller ones. Shape each piece into a ball.

Second Rise: Place the dough balls on a floured surface, cover again, and let them rise for an additional 30-45 minutes.

Preheat Oven: While the dough is rising, preheat your oven to its highest setting (usually around 250°C or 475°F) and if using, place a pizza stone in the oven to heat.

Prepare for Baking: Roll out each dough ball on a floured surface to your desired thickness (about 1/4 inch). Sprinkle cornmeal on the baking sheet or pizza stone to prevent sticking.

Top and Bake: Add your favorite pizza toppings, then bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes until the crust is golden and crisp.

Serve: Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, slice, and enjoy your delicious homemade pizza!
