Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon instant yeast

1 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon sugar

¾ cup warm water (110°F)

3 tablespoons olive oil

4 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

1 teaspoon dried oregano

½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

In a large bowl, mix the flour, instant yeast, salt, and sugar.

Gradually add the warm water and olive oil to the dry ingredients, stirring until a shaggy dough forms.

Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle about ½ inch thick.

Cut the dough into strips about 1 inch wide and 6 inches long.

Take each strip and tie it into a knot; place the knots on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter, minced garlic, dried oregano, and red pepper flakes (if using).

Brush the garlic mixture generously over each knot, reserving some for later.

Bake the knots in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

Once out of the oven, brush the knots again with the remaining garlic mixture and sprinkle with chopped parsley.

                          Let cool slightly before serving.

Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 1 hour 35 minutes | Servings: 12 knots
