Ingredients

4 medium-sized yellow onions, finely chopped

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 tablespoon unsalted butter

1 teaspoon sugar

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon thyme (fresh or dried)

1 cup beef or vegetable broth

1 cup cream cheese, softened

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup crescent roll dough (1 tube)

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Caramelize the Onions: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onions and sugar. Cook for about 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onions are golden brown and caramelized.

Add Flavor: Stir in minced garlic, thyme, and season with salt and pepper. Cook for an additional 2 minutes. Pour in the beef or vegetable broth, allowing it to simmer until most of the liquid has evaporated. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

Mix the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the caramelized onion mixture with the softened cream cheese and shredded mozzarella. Stir until well combined and set aside.

Prepare the Dough: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Unroll the crescent roll dough on a clean surface and separate it into triangles.

Fill the Bombs: Place a generous tablespoon of the onion-cheese mixture onto the widest part of each triangle of dough. Fold the sides over the filling and roll tightly into a ball. Pinch the seams to ensure they’re sealed.

Bake: Place the bombs seam side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake for 15-18 minutes or until they are golden brown.

Serve: Allow the French Onion Bombs to cool slightly before serving. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley for an added touch.
