Ingredients

1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 bell pepper (red or green), sliced into strips

1 onion, sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced

1/4 cup beef broth

1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (for thickening)

Salt and pepper to taste

Cooked rice or noodles (for serving)

Instructions

Marinate the Steak: In a bowl, combine the sliced flank steak, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 15-20 minutes.

Prepare the Vegetables: While the steak is marinating, wash and slice the bell pepper and onion. Set aside.

Cooking the Steak: In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated steak in a single layer and stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until browned but not fully cooked. Remove steak from the skillet and set aside.

Stir-Fry the Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the sliced bell pepper, onion, minced garlic, and ginger. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.

Combine Everything: Return the steak to the skillet with the vegetables. Pour in the beef broth and bring to a simmer. Let it cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.

Thicken the Sauce: Stir in the cornstarch-water mixture and cook for another minute until the sauce thickens. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serve: Remove from heat and serve the pepper steak over cooked rice or noodles. Enjoy your easy and delicious Chinese pepper steak!
