12 string cheese sticks (or mozzarella cheese sticks)

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

1 cup breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Cooking spray or oil for frying

Marinara sauce (for dipping)

Prep the Cheese: Cut each string cheese stick in half to make shorter sticks. Place them on a plate and freeze for about 30 minutes. This helps to keep them from melting too quickly during frying.

    Set Up Breading Station: In one shallow dish, place the flour. In a second dish, whisk the eggs until smooth. In a third dish, combine the breadcrumbs, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.

      Bread the Cheese Sticks: Take each frozen cheese stick, coat it in flour, shaking off excess. Dip it into the egg mixture, allowing the excess to drip off, and then roll it in the breadcrumb mixture until fully coated. For extra crunch, you can repeat the egg and breadcrumb steps for a double coat.

        Fry the Mozzarella Sticks: Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat (or use cooking spray in an air fryer). If frying, once the oil is hot, carefully add the mozzarella sticks in batches. Fry for about 1-2 minutes on each side or until golden brown. If using an air fryer, arrange the cheese sticks in a single layer and spray lightly with cooking spray, air frying at 375°F (190°C) for approximately 6-8 minutes, flipping halfway through.

          Drain and Serve: Once golden brown, remove the mozzarella sticks from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil. Serve hot with marinara sauce for dipping.
