Ingredients

12 mozzarella sticks (string cheese)

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

1 cup seasoned breadcrumbs (Italian style)

½ teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon onion powder

¼ teaspoon paprika

¼ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon black pepper

Cooking spray or vegetable oil for frying

Marinara sauce (for dipping)

Instructions

Prepare the Cheese: Place the mozzarella sticks in the freezer for at least 30 minutes. This helps them hold their shape while frying.

Set Up Breading Station: In three separate bowls, set up your breading station:

      - Bowl 1: Place the flour.

        - Bowl 2: Whisk the eggs until combined.

          - Bowl 3: Combine the seasoned breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.

Bread the Sticks: Take the frozen mozzarella sticks out of the freezer. Dip each stick first into the flour, making sure it’s coated well, then into the egg mixture, and finally into the breadcrumb mixture. Ensure they are fully coated and press down slightly to adhere the breadcrumbs.

Double Coat (Optional): For extra crispiness, repeat the egg and breadcrumb coating on each stick.

Heat the Oil: In a large skillet, heat about ½ inch of oil over medium heat. If you prefer a healthier option, you can also bake these sticks by placing them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and misting with cooking spray.

Fry the Sticks: Once the oil is hot, carefully add the mozzarella sticks to the skillet (do not overcrowd). Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown. If baking, place them in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through.

Drain and Serve: Remove the mozzarella sticks from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.
