Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/4 cup milk (or plant-based alternative)

1/2 cup chocolate frosting (for topping)

Optional: 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined.

Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the dough.

Slowly mix in the milk to achieve a smooth and creamy cookie dough consistency.

Using a tablespoon or cookie scoop, drop dough balls onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center is still soft. Don’t overbake!

Remove from the oven and let cookies cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Once cooled, generously spread chocolate frosting on top of each cookie for a decadent finish.

Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 30 minutes | Servings: 12 cookies

                          - Presentation Tips: Serve these cookies on a vibrant plate, and consider adding a sprinkle of cocoa powder or a drizzle of melted chocolate on top for extra flair.
