Ingredients

2 pounds of thinly sliced beef (sirloin or ribeye)

1 large green bell pepper, sliced

1 large onion, sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup beef broth

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper, to taste

8 slices provolone cheese (or Cheez Whiz, if preferred)

6 hoagie rolls

Optional: sliced mushrooms or jalapeños for extra flavor

Instructions

Prepare the Ingredients: Start by thinly slicing the beef, onion, green bell pepper, and any additional vegetables you choose to add. Mince the garlic as well.

Layer the Crockpot: Place the sliced beef in the bottom of the crockpot. Add the sliced onions, green bell pepper, garlic, and any optional vegetables on top.

Mix the Sauce: In a medium bowl, whisk together the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Pour this mixture evenly over the beef and vegetables in the crockpot.

Cook: Cover and cook on low heat for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours. Stir occasionally, if possible, until the meat is tender and the flavors meld together.

Prepare the Rolls: About 30 minutes before serving, slice the hoagie rolls and place them on a baking sheet. Toast them in the oven at 350°F (175°C) until they are lightly golden brown.

Add Cheese: Once the beef mixture is cooked, distribute the hot filling evenly into the toasted hoagie rolls. Lay 1-2 slices of provolone cheese on each sandwich and leave them to melt under a hot broiler (or you can add the cheese directly to the crockpot during the final 10 minutes of cooking).

Serve: Serve the sandwiches hot with your choice of sides like potato chips or a simple salad.
