Ingredients

2 cups elbow macaroni

4 cups water

2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup cream cheese, softened

1 cup whole milk

1/2 cup sour cream

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

Salt and pepper to taste

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional for topping)

2 tablespoons butter, melted (optional for topping)

Instructions

Begin by adding the elbow macaroni and water to the crock pot. Stir to combine.

Cover the crock pot and cook on high for 30 minutes, or until the macaroni is tender, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.

Once the macaroni is cooked, reduce the heat to low. Add in the shredded sharp cheddar cheese, shredded mozzarella cheese, cream cheese, whole milk, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, and Dijon mustard.

Stir the mixture well until all the cheeses have melted and the ingredients are evenly combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

If you prefer a crispy topping, combine the breadcrumbs and melted butter in a small bowl. Sprinkle this mixture over the mac and cheese.

Cover the crock pot again and let it cook on low for an additional 30 minutes to an hour, or until everything is hot and bubbly.

Stir again before serving to incorporate the topping, if used.
