Ingredients

1 large round loaf of sesame seed bread (approximately 12 inches)

1 cup green olives, pitted and chopped

1 cup black olives, pitted and chopped

1/2 cup roasted red peppers, chopped

1/2 cup artichoke hearts, chopped

1/2 cup provolone cheese, sliced

1/2 cup ham, thinly sliced

1/2 cup salami, thinly sliced

1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil

2 tablespoons red wine vinegar (or substitute with a splash of apple cider vinegar)

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon dried oregano

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh basil leaves (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Olive Salad: In a medium bowl, combine the chopped green and black olives, roasted red peppers, and artichoke hearts.

Flavor the Oil: In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, red wine vinegar, minced garlic, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Pour this mixture over the olive mixture and stir well to combine. Allow this to marinate for at least 30 minutes at room temperature.

Slice the Bread: Take the sesame seed loaf and slice it horizontally, creating a top and bottom half.

Layer the Ingredients: Begin by layering half of the provolone cheese on the bottom half of the bread. Then add the ham and salami slices.

Add the Olive Salad: Spoon the prepared olive salad generously over the meats, making sure to spread it evenly.

Finish with Cheese: Top with the remaining slices of provolone cheese.

Close the Sandwich: Place the top half of the bread over the layers and gently press down to compact the sandwich.

Wrap and Refrigerate: Wrap the entire sandwich tightly in plastic wrap and place a heavy skillet on top for about 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld.

Slice and Serve: Unwrap the sandwich and cut into wedges. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.

                    Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 1 hour 15 minutes | Servings: 8-10

                      - Presentation Tips: Arrange the sandwich wedges on a large platter, and drizzle with a bit of olive oil for shine. Add a few whole olives and basil sprigs around the edges for a vibrant presentation.
