Frying is the heart of creating perfectly crispy churro bites. To start, it’s essential to heat the oil correctly. Use a deep, heavy-bottomed pot or a deep fryer for even heating. Fill it with about 2-3 inches of vegetable oil, ensuring there’s enough space to prevent overflow when you add the dough.

Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 cup unsalted butter, cubed

1/2 cup water

1 tablespoon granulated sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 large eggs

Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for coating)

Instructions

In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, granulated sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the butter has melted.

Once boiling, remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the flour until a dough forms. Allow it to cool for a few minutes.

Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the mixture is smooth and well-combined.

Heat about 2 inches of oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium-high heat until it reaches 375°F (190°C).

Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star-shaped tip.

Pipe small lengths of dough (about 1-2 inches) directly into the hot oil, cutting with scissors. Fry in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.

Cook the churro bites for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy. Remove them with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

In a separate bowl, mix the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon together. While the churro bites are still warm, toss them in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.

Serve warm and enjoy your delicious Cinnamon Sugar Churro Bites!
