Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 medium onion, finely chopped

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

4 hoagie rolls

1 tablespoon olive oil

Salt and pepper to taste

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 cup lettuce, shredded

1 medium tomato, sliced

¼ cup mayonnaise

1 tablespoon hot sauce (optional)

Instructions

Cook the Beef: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté for about 3 minutes until translucent.

Brown the Meat: Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spatula. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Cook until the beef is browned and cooked through, about 7-10 minutes.

Melt the Cheese: Once the beef is cooked, lower the heat and add the shredded cheddar cheese to the skillet. Stir until the cheese is melted and well combined with the beef.

Prepare the Rolls: While the beef and cheese mixture is cooking, slice the hoagie rolls horizontally without cutting all the way through.

Fill the Rolls: Generously spoon the chopped cheese mixture into each hoagie roll, ensuring each is filled evenly.

Add Fresh Toppings: Top the cheese-filled sandwiches with shredded lettuce and sliced tomatoes.

Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise with hot sauce (if using) until combined. Drizzle this sauce over the top of the filled sandwiches.

Serve Hot: Optionally, you can toast the filled hoagie rolls in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5-7 minutes until they are slightly crispy.

Enjoy: Serve the chopped cheese sandwiches hot, and enjoy each delicious bite!
