Ingredients

3 ripe bananas, mashed

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup brewed espresso or strong coffee, cooled

1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and melted butter. Mix well until fully incorporated.

Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the banana mixture, and whisk until smooth.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture, alternating with the cooled espresso. Mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using) until evenly distributed.

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread it out evenly.

Bake in the preheated oven for 55-65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Once baked, allow the banana bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 1 hour 15 minutes | Servings: 10 slices
