Scatter the pitted and halved cherries evenly across the bottom of the prepared dish.
Pour the batter over the cherries, ensuring they are evenly distributed.
Sprinkle the sliced almonds on top of the batter.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 35-40 minutes, or until the clafoutis is puffed and golden brown, and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Dust with powdered sugar before serving if desired.
Serve warm or at room temperature, slicing into wedges for serving.
