Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

1 large egg

1 cup breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch)

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Oil for frying

Instructions

Prepare the Cheese: In a large bowl, mix together the shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese until well combined. Form the cheese mixture into small balls, about 1-inch in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze for about 30 minutes until firm.

Set Up Breading Station: In a shallow bowl, whisk together the flour, garlic powder, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. In another bowl, beat the egg. In a third bowl, place the breadcrumbs.

Coat the Cheese Bites: Once the cheese balls are firm, roll each ball in the flour mixture, then dip it into the beaten egg, and finally coat it with breadcrumbs. Ensure each bite is fully covered.

Heat the Oil: In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat oil over medium-high heat until it reaches about 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil's readiness by dropping in a small piece of bread—if it sizzles, it’s ready.

Fry the Bites: Carefully add a few cheese bites to the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown, turning them halfway through for even cooking. Remove them with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel to drain excess oil.

Garnish and Serve: Once all the bites are fried, sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley for garnish. Serve warm with marinara sauce or a spicy dipping sauce of your choice.
