Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced

6 tablespoons ice water

1 pound ground beef

1/2 cup chopped onion

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 cup pickles, finely chopped

1 egg (for egg wash)

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, mix the flour and salt together. Cut in the chilled butter with a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually stir in the ice water, one tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together. Divide the dough in half, shape into disks, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Cook the Filling: In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with the chopped onion until fully cooked, about 6-8 minutes. Drain any excess fat. Stir in the garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Cook for another minute. Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Once cooled, mix in the shredded cheddar cheese and chopped pickles.

Roll Out the Dough: After chilling, roll out one disk of dough on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick. Cut out circles using a 4-5 inch round cutter.

Assemble the Hand Pies: Place about 2 tablespoons of the beef filling in the center of each dough circle. Moisten the edges of the dough with water, fold over to create a semicircle, and press the edges to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative touch.

Preheat and Prepare for Baking: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Egg Wash: Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush over the tops of each hand pie for a golden finish.

Bake: Place the hand pies on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.

Cool and Serve: Allow the hand pies to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Prep Time: 40 minutes | Total Time: 1 hour 5 minutes | Servings: 8 hand pies

                    - Presentation Tips: Serve warm on a platter with a side of ketchup and mustard for dipping. Garnish with fresh parsley for a pop of color!
