Ingredients

For the dough:

4 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup warm milk (110°F)

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

For the filling:

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup pecans, chopped

For the caramel sauce:

1/2 cup unsalted butter

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1/4 cup heavy cream

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Make the dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, instant yeast, and salt. In another bowl, mix the warm milk, melted butter, and eggs until well combined. Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a soft dough forms.

Knead the dough: Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.

Prepare the filling: In a small bowl, combine brown sugar with ground cinnamon. Set aside.

Roll out the dough: Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface. Roll it into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick. Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture and chopped pecans evenly over the surface.

Form the rolls: Starting from one long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Slice the log into 12 equal pieces and place them in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.

Prepare the caramel sauce: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Stir in brown sugar and heavy cream until the mixture comes to a boil. Allow it to simmer for 2-3 minutes, then remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.

Assemble and rise: Pour half of the caramel sauce over the sliced rolls in the baking dish. Cover the dish again and let the rolls rise for another 30 minutes.

Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Once the rolls have risen, bake them for 25-30 minutes, or until they are golden brown.

Glaze the rolls: Remove the rolls from the oven and immediately pour the remaining caramel sauce over the top. Allow the rolls to cool for a few minutes before serving.
