Ingredients

1 cup fresh blueberries (or frozen, if out of season)

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 cup milk

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with paper liners or grease it lightly.

Make the Cream Cheese Filling: In a medium bowl, use a hand mixer or whisk to combine the softened cream cheese, 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth and fluffy. Set this aside.

Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon. Set aside.

Cream the Butter and Sugars: In another large mixing bowl, use a hand mixer to cream together the remaining 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, brown sugar, and softened butter until the mixture is light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).

Add Eggs and Vanilla: Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, add the remaining 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract and mix until well incorporated.

Combine the Mixtures: Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the flour mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; it's okay if a few lumps remain.

Fold in Blueberries: Gently fold in the fresh blueberries, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Fill Muffin Tin: Spoon half of the muffin batter into each muffin cup, filling them about halfway. Add a dollop of the cream cheese mixture on top, then cover with the remaining batter, filling each cup to about 2/3 full.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the tops are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool and Serve: Allow the muffins to cool in the pan for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy your delicious blueberry cream cheese muffins warm or at room temperature.
