Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup cream cheese, softened

1 cup powdered sugar

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup fresh berries (such as blueberries or raspberries)

Optional: Zest of 1 lemon for extra flavor

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.

In a medium bowl, combine the softened butter and cream cheese until smooth and creamy.

Gradually add granulated sugar and powdered sugar to the butter-cream cheese mixture, mixing until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then stir in the vanilla extract.

In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Fold in the fresh berries and lemon zest, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the edges are golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the cream cheese squares to cool in the baking dish for at least 15 minutes before cutting them into squares.

Serve plain, or dust with additional powdered sugar for a sweet touch.

Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 50 minutes | Servings: 24 squares

                        - Presentation Tips: Arrange the squares on a decorative platter, and consider garnishing with fresh berries or a sprig of mint for a pop of color.
