4 slices of bread (sourdough or whole grain for extra flavor)

4 slices of cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese)

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

1 tablespoon mayonnaise

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs (optional)

Pinch of salt and pepper

Begin by spreading the softened butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread.

    On the unbuttered side of two slices, spread a thin layer of mayonnaise evenly. This will give a nice golden crust.

      Place two slices of cheddar cheese on top of the mayonnaise-covered bread, then sprinkle with garlic powder, dried herbs, salt, and pepper for added flavor.
